Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has recused himself from the lawsuit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others. The suit seeks to halt the Senate’s investigation into her alleged misconduct.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, Justice Egwuatu announced his withdrawal, citing allegations of bias leveled against his court by Akpabio, who is the third defendant in the case.
After allowing the lawyers to introduce themselves, the judge stated that he would no longer preside over the matter due to the allegations. He further directed that the case file be returned to the court’s Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, for reassignment to another judge.
