The Kogi State Police Command has called for the cancellation of a planned rally in Okene to welcome embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan back to Kogi Central. The event was scheduled for Tuesday.
In a statement, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, cited intelligence reports indicating potential security threats. According to Aya, the rally could be hijacked by hoodlums, posing a risk to public peace and safety.
“The Command cannot afford to jeopardize the existing peace the state is currently enjoying,” the statement read.
Given the security concerns, the police have urged organizers to call off the event, warning that any breach of peace will be met with strict legal action.
