Minister of Works, David Umahi, has reiterated his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stating that after God, his allegiance lies with the President.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, Umahi reacted to President Tinubu’s recent commendation of his achievements in infrastructure development, describing it as a deeply significant gesture.
“The President’s commendation is worth more than a trillion dollars to me,” Umahi said. “It affirms that I am on the right path and that God indeed answers prayers.”
He emphasized the depth of trust President Tinubu has placed in him, saying it would be “wrong and even devilish” to betray such confidence.
“I have publicly declared that my loyalty is to God first, and then to President Tinubu,” he said. “When someone places this level of trust in you, it becomes a spiritual obligation not to fail.”
The minister further warned that anyone who betrays the President after receiving his trust would incur divine judgment.
“Imagine a man overseeing a project worth N1.6 trillion, and his boss never questions his process—that level of trust is rare,” he said, referencing a section of an ongoing infrastructure project.
Umahi added that he prays daily for the strength to prioritize God, President Tinubu, and the Nigerian people above personal interests.
“If I ever place myself, my family, or friends above that hierarchy, may God not answer my prayers,” he declared.
He also extended appreciation to those who have supported and prayed for his success in office, noting that his efforts are for the good of the nation.
“This recognition also puts pressure on contractors to deliver. About 30 major projects are expected to be completed and ready for inauguration by December 20,” Umahi said.
He affirmed his continued commitment to supervising and inspecting federal projects across the six geo-political zones of the country.
