The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, has constituted a 12-member committee to organise a formal inauguration ceremony for its newly elected Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 tenure.
In a statement dated 3 August 2026 and signed by the Branch Chairman, Mr Yakubu Philemon, SAN, and Secretary, Vincent Adodo, Esq., the Branch announced that the committee would plan and execute a befitting ceremony to mark the peaceful leadership transition that followed the Branch elections held on 31 July 2026.
According to the statement, the newly elected officers took the oath of office in a brief ceremony conducted by the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee shortly after the polls. The Executive Committee, however, resolved that the milestone deserved a more elaborate and ceremonious celebration. The formal inauguration has therefore been fixed for Friday, 7 August 2026, at 10 a.m.
The planning committee is chaired by Mustapha Shuaib Agbarere, SAN, with Mrs Roseline Tasha serving as Alternate Chairman. Onyeka Stanley Obiajulu is the Secretary. Other members are Zacchaeus Akubo, Muzzamil Yahaya, Nadi Sochima Lynda, Adegoke Kayode, Sani Moyi, Ojochenemi Fatima Audu, Rolake Akinboro, Ajoke G. Bello, and Olivia Ogba Okabe.
Mr Philemon congratulated the Chairman and members of the committee, expressing confidence that they would successfully organise a ceremony worthy of the occasion and reflective of the Abuja Branch’s standing within the Nigerian legal community.
The decision to hold a formal inauguration comes against the backdrop of what the Branch described as a peaceful and seamless transfer of power.
