The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to urgently address the grievances of Nigerian youths or risk facing serious unrest.
In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Oluwatosin Osho, the cleric revealed that mounting frustration among young Nigerians may soon culminate in massive nationwide protests targeting the Tinubu administration.
According to Primate Ayodele, the current government has not done enough to support or empower the youth, and he warned that failure to act decisively could destabilize the administration.
“The youths are planning a major uprising against the government. Their frustrations with the economy, the electoral system, and general hardship are pushing them toward action. If not addressed quickly, this could become a significant problem for the presidency,” the statement read.
Ayodele emphasized the need for targeted youth empowerment and job creation initiatives, urging the president to act before May 2026. He also highlighted the potential of the current Youth Minister, encouraging Tinubu to fully leverage his abilities to reach and engage with young Nigerians across all regions.
“You have a youth minister who is intelligent, responsive, and capable of connecting with the youth. Make the most of his capacity,” Ayodele advised.
He cautioned against focusing solely on affluent or popular youth demographics in areas like Lekki, Ikoyi, and the Island, insisting that real impact lies in empowering grassroots youths across the country.
“We’re not talking about the so-called ‘Big Boys’—they don’t vote and don’t represent the average Nigerian youth. The government must engage with those in rural communities and underrepresented areas. These are the voices that matter and must be heard.”
