Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Timothy Osadolor, has called for the expulsion of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, over what he described as consistent anti-party activities and open admiration for Abia State Governor, Alex Otti of the Labour Party.
Osadolor, expressing deep disappointment, criticized Wabara’s repeated praise of Governor Otti, stating that such actions undermine PDP’s interests in Abia State. He commended the Abia PDP chapter for suspending Wabara last Tuesday, saying the party must take further steps to protect its integrity.
Wabara has been at the center of controversy within PDP for publicly endorsing Governor Otti’s leadership, despite the governor being from an opposition party. Last October, the Abia PDP had queried Wabara for his effusive praise of Otti within just five months of his administration.
Again, at an event on Sunday at the International Conference Center, Umuahia, Wabara reiterated his stance, stating:
“Even a blind man can see what is happening in Abia!”
”Before becoming a PDP card-carrying member, before becoming an NRC card-carrying member in this state, I, Adolphus Nduneweh Wabara, was first and foremost a citizen of Abia.”
Wabara, seemingly anticipating further disciplinary action, joked that his suspension might escalate to expulsion for speaking the truth about governance in Abia.
In response, Osadolor accused Wabara of betraying the party, emphasizing that as the BoT Chairman often regarded as the party’s ”conscience” he should be promoting PDP, not praising an opposition governor.
“At any forum, he should be the one who champions the cause of PDP and markets it, but instead, he has made it a habit to praise Alex Otti who belongs to another party”.
“His actions are damaging PDP’s prospects in Abia and sending the wrong message to party faithful. If he prefers Otti’s administration so much, he should honorably resign rather than remain in PDP and work against its interests”.
Osadolor urged the party leadership to summon Wabara for questioning, insisting that his repeated praise of an opposition leader amounts to self-serving behavior and could further weaken PDP’s standing in the state.
