The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, for allegedly murdering his wife, Victoria Okoh, 38, at their residence in Oron Local Government Area.
In a statement on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the arrest followed a distress call from concerned residents.
According to John, police operatives arrived at the scene around 5 a.m. and found the suspect hiding in the ceiling in an attempt to evade arrest. Investigations revealed that he allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the general hospital mortuary in Oron LGA for autopsy, while police investigations continue.
The statement reads in part: “At about 05:20 hours, operatives of the Command swiftly responded to a distress call from residents. Upon arrival, officers discovered the mutilated body of the deceased outside her home. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect attacked his wife with a machete over allegations of infidelity.”
