The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.
The Commission also sanctioned the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands as part of measures aimed at strengthening operational efficiency across the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the redeployments followed the recent promotion of several Commissioners of Police and were driven by operational requirements.
AIG Mohammed brings over 33 years of policing experience to his new role, with expertise spanning operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing and police training. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano.
Before his latest appointment, Mohammed served as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zones 3 and 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The Commission also approved the postings of eight Commissioners of Police to state commands. They include CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), CP Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), CP Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), CP Nnanna Oji Ama (Anambra), CP Patrick Daaor (Edo), CP Tijani Murtala (Jigawa), and CP Samuel Erale Etaifo (Delta).
Speaking during the Commission’s meeting, Board Member and Commissioner, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, Rtd.), urged the newly deployed senior officers to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity and impartiality.
He further charged them to uphold the rule of law, remain neutral in the discharge of their responsibilities, and demonstrate diligence in serving the nation.
