Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has revealed why he is determined to dismantle the Labour Party’s Obidient Movement.
Speaking in an interview with News Central on Thursday, Omokri stated that his decision stemmed from his role in Peter Obi’s political journey. According to him, he was instrumental in Obi becoming the running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election.
“I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine,” Omokri declared. “I was responsible for him becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I’ve said this publicly, and I have the documents to prove it. I’m a meticulous record keeper.”
Omokri alleged that members of the Obidient Movement subjected him and his family to harassment and threats. He claimed that while he initially endured the personal attacks, the situation escalated when his wife and child were targeted.
“Peter Obi’s supporters started attacking me, threatening me, and insulting me. That was fine. But then they moved on to my family. At that time, I had just welcomed a daughter, and we received multiple death threats,” he recounted.
He further alleged that members of the movement tracked his residence in the United Kingdom and even stalked him and his wife while jogging.
“They discovered our jogging route, trailed us, and issued threats,” he added.
Omokri emphasized that Obi’s failure to address his complaints led him to take decisive action against the movement using his political influence.
