A former House of Assembly candidate, Adnan Mukhtar Tudun-Wada, has condemned Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his recent Iftar tour in Northern Nigeria, accusing him of disrespecting the region.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Adnan, a public relations practitioner and university lecturer, criticized Seyi Tinubu’s distribution of rice during the Ramadan tour, arguing that it painted Northerners as beggars.
“As young people who are aware of our realities, I want to remind the President’s son that this is not the time for campaigns but for governance. The 2027 elections are still two years away. His actions show clear disrespect for the North—he is handing out rice as if we are beggars. This is not what we need,” Adnan stated.
He further accused the Tinubu administration of neglecting Northern interests, citing the incomplete Abuja-Kano road, ongoing insecurity in Katsina, Zamfara, and parts of Sokoto, and the decline of regional industries.
“The President has introduced the Tax Reform Bill, which undermines the North. Our industries are collapsing, and insecurity is rampant. Instead of addressing these pressing issues, he sends his son to distribute food as if that solves our problems. It is an insult,” he added.
Adnan also criticized Seyi Tinubu’s interactions with Northern traditional rulers, claiming that his conduct lacked respect.
“Look at how he sits in the palaces of our traditional rulers without an ounce of respect. Would he shake the Oba of Lagos or the Ooni of Ife the way he shook the Emir of Zazzau?” he questioned.
Calling on Northern youths to distance themselves from Seyi Tinubu’s activities, Adnan emphasized that Seyi holds no official position in his father’s administration.
“The Tinubu government is a disappointment to young people, and Nigerians are suffering on all fronts. Have you ever seen the daughter of Donald Trump or Barack Obama behaving this way?” he asked.
He urged Seyi Tinubu to stop tarnishing his father’s image in the North, stating that true leadership requires addressing real problems, not distributing handouts.
