Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated a notorious commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), identified as Malam Jidda, in Borno State. Multiple arms were also recovered during a series of operations across the region.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed the development via his verified X account, attributing the success to intensified counterterrorism operations by Nigerian forces in the North-East.
According to Makama, troops conducted a special operation in Ngazalgana village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, where they engaged and neutralised Malam Jidda. He was identified as the Ameer (leader) of the Ngorgore and Malumti areas.
Recovered from the operation were AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a motorcycle used by the insurgents for mobility.
In a separate mission around the Timbuktu Triangle, a snap ambush team engaged ISWAP fighters in a swift confrontation, killing several terrorists and seizing additional AK-47 rifles and various types of ammunition.
Similarly, in the Abadam area of Borno State, troops conducting follow-up operations after a recent battle in Mallamfatori recovered more bodies of neutralised terrorists and a cache of abandoned weapons.
Makama noted that these ongoing offensives are part of a broader, coordinated military campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and restoring peace and stability to communities affected by insurgency in the North-East.
