Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims during an offensive operation in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
The rescue mission, conducted under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, was launched at the Attakar high grounds in the Ganawuri district following credible intelligence reports. The intelligence revealed that the victims had been abducted along the Jos-Ganawuri road on March 7, 2025.
During the operation, troops engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their hostages and flee into the high grounds under intense gunfire. A thorough search of the area led to the rescue of seven victims identified as Sale Umar, Muhammadu Inusa, Abdullahi Abdulrasaq, Abdulsalam Muhammad, Muhammad Hamisu, Ibrahim Maradu, and Saidu Sani, all from Bauchi State.
Troops also recovered a bag containing a blanket and clothing materials left behind by the fleeing criminals. The rescued victims were debriefed to gather intelligence for further operations before being safely reunited with their families.
Meanwhile, OPSH has intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the kidnappers for prosecution. The operation underscores the military’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring lasting peace and security within the Joint Operations Area.
