Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has appointed Chief Enyinna Onuegbu as Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, filling the vacancy left by Barr. Sydney Emeka Agbor.
Agbor resigned the post to seek the Oru West seat in the Imo State House of Assembly. The Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu, conveyed the appointment to Onuegbu. It took effect on September 30, 2026.
Onuegbu returns to the governor’s office after a series of earlier roles under the same administration. Uzodimma first named him Commissioner for Lands in 2020. He later served as Commissioner for Power, then as Chief Political Adviser and head of the Political Bureau, before going back to the Ministry of Lands and Survey in 2024.
A lawyer, Onuegbu started in politics under the late Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe and has worked with Uzodimma for years. He was executive chairman of Ngor Okpala Local Government under former Governor Ikedi Ohakim and spokesman for the All Progressives Congress in Imo during the party’s early years in the state. He holds the traditional title of Ebekuo Dike and is Traditional Prime Minister of Eziama Ancient Kingdom in Ngor Okpala.
In a statement, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Oguwike Nwachuku, said Uzodimma expects Onuegbu to draw on his experience, political network and capacity for teamwork. The statement linked the appointment to the administration’s Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery agenda.
