Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has firmly denied reports linking him to a new opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the claims as entirely fabricated.
In a statement released by Yusuph Olaniyonu of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Media Office, the former Kwara State governor urged the public to disregard the report, which he said was based on falsehoods and deliberate misinformation.
According to the statement, the story was allegedly concocted by opposition figures in Kwara State, who not only manufactured fake quotes but also designed misleading graphics to support their narrative.
“The report in question relied on unnamed sources and faceless individuals who were falsely claimed to have attended a meeting with Dr. Saraki,” the statement said. “The reporter also sought opinions from people without fully disclosing the details of the story he wanted them to respond to.”
Olaniyonu added that the publication appeared to stem from a misunderstanding of Saraki’s silence on ongoing coalition talks among some political actors. “It is clear that the report is merely a repackaging of speculations and political projections aimed at explaining Dr. Saraki’s non-involvement in recent political movements.”
He stressed that Saraki is known for being deliberate and measured in his words, both in private and public, and would never speak or act in a way that could subject him to public ridicule.
“The views expressed in the news article and the accompanying graphic design do not reflect the position of Dr. Saraki. He has no connection to them whatsoever,” the statement said.
The media office urged Nigerians to dismiss the claims, both in the original newspaper report and in the versions being circulated online, which it described as the handiwork of political opponents.
