The Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin, Alhaji Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has dismissed the influence of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), stating that the group lacks the political strength to prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing a landslide victory in northern Nigeria in the 2027 elections.
Illiyasu Kwankwaso, a supporter of APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, echoed Ganduje’s stance that “the North should wait till 2031 to reclaim power. “He argued that the ACF does not represent the interests of the North and questioned its past contributions to the region”.
”Most of you in this forum held power for decades, yet what did you do for the North? Nothing. You only served your personal interests,” he stated.
Illiyasu Kwankwaso specifically called out individuals within the ACF, including former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, and political activist Najaatu Muhammad, accusing them of failing to deliver meaningful development during their time in government.
“Solomon Dalung, who now attacks Tinubu, was silent after gaining power in Buhari’s administration despite his previous criticism of misgovernance,” he said.
He also took aim at former Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, stating that he and other ACF members have nothing to show for their time in leadership”.
Backing Ganduje’s position, Illiyasu Kwankwaso argued that President Tinubu’s achievements in the North within a few months surpass those of many past leaders. He highlighted key projects, including:
The establishment of the Northwest Commission, spearheaded by Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.
The allocation of over N600 billion for the development of the Northwest region.
The approval of N150 billion for the construction of Metro Rail lines in Kano City, championed by House of Representatives Appropriation Committee Chairman, Abubakar Kabir Bichi.
Today, northern Nigeria is a massive project site, thanks to Tinubu’s commitment. More projects are on the way as he secures re-election in 2027,” he asserted.
Illiyasu Kwankwaso also praised Ganduje’s leadership in consolidating the APC’s dominance, citing the defection of numerous politicians from opposition parties.
“Ganduje’s efforts are yielding results. Apart from winning several states in the run-off elections, the APC continues to receive National Assembly members, Senators, and other top politicians into its fold”.
He claimed that in Kano, Senator Barau Jibrin has weakened the NNPP’s influence, with former commissioners and party leaders defecting to the APC.
“The Kwankwasiyya movement is crumbling, and Kwankwaso’s supporters now realize they have no solid party to rely on,” he concluded.
