Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign after an outstanding year for the Red Devils.
The Portuguese midfielder played a key role in United’s top-three finish and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League under manager Michael Carrick. Fernandes delivered eight league goals and 20 assists, matching the Premier League’s single-season assist record previously held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
He now has the chance to set a new record when Manchester United face Brighton & Hove Albion in their final league match of the season.
The award was decided through a combination of fan votes and selections from a panel of football experts. Fernandes edged out strong competition from stars including Erling Haaland, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhães, David Raya, Antoine Semenyo, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Igor Thiago.
The honour adds to an already remarkable season for Fernandes, who recently claimed his fifth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year prize. He also becomes the seventh Manchester United player to win the league’s official seasonal MVP award since it was introduced in 1994/95.
