The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed aerial surveillance platforms to support security agencies in the search and rescue operation for teachers and pupils abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the NAF is providing continuous aerial intelligence to enhance situational awareness and assist ongoing efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed this during a courtesy visit by Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Suleh, representing the Chief of the Air Staff. The governor noted that the Air Force responded swiftly by deploying surveillance assets immediately after the abduction was reported. The intelligence gathered has been instrumental in monitoring the situation and coordinating rescue operations.
Makinde appealed for calm and patience from residents, assuring them that all available resources are being utilized. He commended the NAF for its prompt support, especially as the state’s newly procured aerial platforms are still being assembled at the NAF Base in Lagos. The state government acquired the assets in consultation with the Air Force to benefit from maintenance, engineering, and training support.
Air Vice Marshal Suleh reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to ensure the victims’ safe return and to address broader security challenges across the country. He also praised the Oyo State Government for its support of NAF infrastructure projects.
