President Bola Tinubu on Monday administered the oath of office to eight newly appointed federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC) at the State House.
The brief swearing-in ceremony took place in the Council Chambers shortly before the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was presided over by the President.
The two new RMAFC commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad from Kaduna State.
For the NPC, six commissioners were inaugurated: Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya, and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.
Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa (RMAFC, Bauchi) is a lawyer and journalist with extensive public service experience. She has worked at the National Assembly, Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, and National Youth Service Corps. She also played a pivotal role in the establishment of Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.
Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad (RMAFC, Kaduna) is a legal practitioner with a strong background in public administration. He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Among the NPC appointees, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya is a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi is an information systems and supply chain management expert who recently served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda is a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Bayero University, Kano, and a former member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.
Suleiman Umar retired from the Nigeria Immigration Service as Deputy Comptroller General, where he oversaw intelligence, investigation, and enforcement operations.
Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya is a long-serving career officer at the National Population Commission, having risen to the position of Director of Public Affairs. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto), a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, was reappointed for a second term as Federal Commissioner. He previously held several ministerial positions in the Sokoto State Government.
The appointments are expected to bolster the capacity of the RMAFC and NPC, two critical institutions tasked with revenue mobilisation and fiscal allocation on one hand, and accurate population data management on the other as the country advances its developmental priorities.
