The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he personally oversaw the recent demolition of structures in Gishiri, Abuja, to prevent acts of sabotage.
Speaking during a media chat on Wednesday, Wike clarified that the demolition was restricted to areas within designated road corridors.
He cautioned residents against erecting structures in anticipation of government compensation, warning that such actions would not be tolerated.
“When they see that a road is planned for an area, they hurriedly put up structures to claim compensation. We will not tolerate sabotage,” he stated.
The FCT Administration (FCTA) recently demolished parts of Gishiri, a settlement near Maitama, to pave the way for road construction.
