The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has rejected claims linking the church to any political party, emphasizing that RCCG remains a non-partisan place of worship open to Nigerians from all political backgrounds.
Speaking at the church’s May Holy Ghost Service themed “Excellent Counsel,” Adeboye described allegations that RCCG is affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as baseless. He noted that the church accommodates members from various political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who worship together without division.
He stressed that while politicians are welcome to attend services, the church does not allow its altar to be used for political activities or endorsements. According to him, RCCG’s role is to pray for all individuals rather than provide a platform for political expression.
On the country’s political future, Adeboye offered a spiritual outlook on the 2027 presidential election, saying the eventual leader is already known to God. He encouraged Nigerians to remain prayerful and committed to their responsibilities.
Addressing his previous participation in public protests, Adeboye explained that he acted in response to directives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), noting that he respects its leadership on national Christian matters.
He also clarified that he does not consider himself a spiritual leader to all Christians in Nigeria, stating that his responsibility is limited to RCCG.
Finally, Adeboye advised church members to avoid engaging in criticism or political conflicts involving fellow believers. He assured them of his support, urging unity and caution against being drawn into politically motivated disputes.
