The Federal Government, on Wednesday, withdrew the money laundering charge filed against the detained Binance Holdings Limited’s executive, Tigran Gambaryan, due to his ill health and diplomatic intervention. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gambaryan was the 2nd defendant in the charge preferred against the cryptocurrency platform (1st defendant) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). EFCC’s counsel, R. U. Adagba, told Justice Emeka Nwite of a Federal High Court, Abuja, of the Federal Government’s decision to withdraw the charge against the detained employee because of his deteriorating health. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has received four cargoes of crude oil from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL under the naira-for-crude sale agreement. Checks confirmed that the four cargoes of crude were delivered to the refinery within the past three weeks, adding that more would be supplied in the coming weeks. A reliable industry source close to the refinery said: “In the past few weeks, the Dangote refinery has received four cargoes of crude oil and more supplies will be delivered in the next few weeks.”
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Abia state chapter, has rejected a tax policy for church signposts in the state. The Christian body lamented that, as a Christian and God’s own state, it is regrettable that Abia is the only state in Nigeria that is taxing churches on their signposts. The Federal Government has stopped export of locally produced Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also known as cooking gas. The measure is to mitigate the price of the gas that has been soaring steadily. Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo, said “Short Term Solution: With effect from November 1, 2024, NNPCL and LPG producers are to stop exporting LPG produced in-country, or import equivalent volumes of LPG exported at cost reflective prices.” Ekpo convened a meeting in Abuja with stakeholders to address the skyrocketing price and its attendant hardship on Nigerians.
