Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, of actions that allegedly strengthen bandits in the state.
His remarks followed a social media post by X user @realYusufTukur, who highlighted a recent kidnapping incident in Kaduna State, where over 30 people were abducted. The user lamented that the news was not gaining traction because El-Rufai was no longer governor.
“Meanwhile, NSA @NuhuRibadu is busy playing politics with security,” the post read.
The post referenced a recent attack in Kagarko Local Government Area, where heavily armed criminals kidnapped Wakilin Fulani of Janjala, Alhaji Atah Adamu Wakili, a nursing mother, and 37 other residents.
Reacting to the incident, El-Rufai claimed that the kidnappers would soon be paid ransom to release their victims, after which the NSA would publicly hand them over to the Kaduna State Government in a colorful ceremony.”
“Propaganda trumps sensible governance,” El-Rufai stated.
He further alleged that such negotiations financially empower terrorists, enabling them to acquire more sophisticated weapons and carry out even more kidnappings in Kaduna and beyond.
“The terrorists, thus further financially empowered, will purchase even more sophisticated weapons and abduct even more people in Kaduna and elsewhere. That is the new “modus operandi” of the geniuses in charge of our state these days,” he added.
