A heated argument broke out among members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday over the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
A video of the altercation, shared online by AIT News, captured the tense moments before the plenary session commenced.
President Bola Tinubu had, in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday night, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. However, according to the Constitution, the National Assembly must review the President’s proclamation within 48 hours if in session or within 10 days if in recess.
To validate or reject the declaration, a two-thirds majority vote from both the Senate and the House of Representatives is required.
