Youths under the umbrella of the Udenu Youth Forum have expressed strong support for the decision of Hon. Denis Agbo, the representative of Udenu/Igboeze North Federal Constituency, to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was reported that Hon. Agbo, alongside Hon. Chidi Obetta of Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, officially defected from the Labour Party to the PDP on Thursday.
Speaking to journalists in Enugu shortly after the defection, Comrade Paschal Nnaemeka Ugwu, former Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Enugu State Chapter, welcomed the move, describing it as a step that would accelerate development in the constituency.
According to Ugwu, the Udenu Youth Forum had recently visited Hon. Agbo, urging him to return to the PDP, a party they believe offers a better platform for community development. He praised Agbo as an innovative and grassroots-oriented leader whose return to the PDP aligns with the developmental vision of Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah.
“We believe that this strategic return to the PDP will provide Hon. Agbo with a broader platform to realize his plans for our people,” Ugwu said. “With a development-driven leader like Governor Mbah at the helm in Enugu State, the PDP remains the most viable vehicle for delivering meaningful progress.”
He added that the youth of Udenu are fully behind Hon. Agbo and will continue to support him as he works to bring more dividends of democracy to the constituency.
“Our concern is the progress of Udenu and Igboeze North,” Ugwu stated. “By aligning with the party in power at the state level, we are confident that our development goals will be better achieved.”
