A 22-year-old filling station supervisor, Prosper Ese, was arraigned on Wednesday before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing ₦1,256,400 from his employer.
Ese, whose residential address was not disclosed, faces two charges—stealing and fraud. He pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, the alleged offences took place on March 2 at Arigbabuwo Petrol Filling Station, Oko-Afo, Badagry. Ese is accused of misappropriating ₦1,056,400 from sales remittances and fraudulently obtaining ₦200,000 from a woman, Aisat Folorunsho, under false pretenses. He was reportedly apprehended while attempting to flee.
The prosecution stated that the offences violate Sections 287 and 311 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws, 2015.
Chief Magistrate N.A. Layeni granted Ese bail at ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until April 16 for mention.
