First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on young Nigerians to remain focused and hardworking, urging them to harness education, innovation and entrepreneurship to realise their dreams and contribute to national progress.
In a message marking International Youth Day 2026, observed globally on Wednesday, August 12, under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” Tinubu highlighted the shared goals of young people worldwide despite differing backgrounds and circumstances.
“Although young people come from diverse backgrounds and face different circumstances, they share common aspirations for quality education, meaningful employment, equal opportunities, and a more sustainable future,” she said.
The First Lady encouraged Nigerian youths to stay committed to personal development and seize available opportunities. “I encourage our youth to remain focused and hardworking. Use education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship to pursue your dreams, fulfil your potential, and help build a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”
She also stressed the need for renewed efforts to create an enabling environment where young people can develop their talents and make meaningful contributions to society. “As we commemorate this day, let us renew our commitment to supporting and empowering young people by creating opportunities for them to realise their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Tinubu concluded by wishing Nigerian youths and young people around the world a happy International Youth Day 2026.
