A prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Engr. Buba Galadima, has dismissed the political influence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stating that the former Kano State governor holds no real political value and owes his current position solely to President Bola Tinubu.
Galadima made the statement while reacting to reports suggesting that the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was plotting a return to the APC. In an interview with The Guardian, Galadima accused Ganduje of name-dropping Kwankwaso and the NNPP in a bid to remain politically relevant.
“I’m just hearing this from you. So if we were planning to return to the APC, Nigerians would first hear it from Ganduje? In fact, it is because of people like him that no one would want to join the APC,” Galadima said.
Taking a swipe at Ganduje’s leadership of the APC, Galadima said, “Only Tinubu could have made Ganduje chairman of a party. How can Ganduje be the chairman of anything?”
He criticized the APC’s leadership, describing it as disorganized and desperate to maintain relevance by spreading misinformation about the NNPP and its leaders.
“They’re only keeping us in the news because they’re confused. The country is in disarray,” Galadima said. “These same people use social media and propaganda to tarnish the image of the NNPP. If they’re not claiming Kwankwaso is working for Tinubu, they’re spreading rumors that he’s in France lobbying the President.”
Galadima categorically denied any plans for Kwankwaso or the NNPP to return to the APC. “There’s absolutely nothing like that. I can tell you as a matter of fact,” he asserted.
He also criticized the APC’s early focus on the 2027 general elections, arguing that only politicians who have failed in governance begin campaigning halfway through their tenure.
“Only political failures talk about the next election in the middle of their term,” Galadima stated, adding that the NNPP remains committed to responsible and people-focused governance.
His comments were in response to Ganduje’s recent remarks at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where the party chairman claimed Kwankwaso was likely to return to the ruling party due to what he described as the NNPP’s post-election collapse.
