Former Akoka Community Development Association (Akoka CDA) Chairman, Segun Adesanya, has officially declared his intention to contest for the chairmanship of Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the upcoming Lagos local government elections.
Adesanya stated that his decision was driven by a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the progress of Bariga, following deep reflection and extensive consultations with stakeholders.
He praised the administration of the incumbent chairman, Hon. Kolade Alabi, for its achievements and described his entry into the race as a movement aimed at further advancing Bariga’s sustainable development.
In February 2024, Adesanya was appointed by Hon. Kolade Alabi David to lead a 16-member committee tasked with implementing various palliative measures for Bariga residents.
Adesanya is among the top contenders vying for the All Progressives Congress (APC) party ticket, alongside other aspirants, including:

In a statement, Adesanya outlined his goals for the LCDA, emphasizing economic growth, improved quality of life, and sustainable development.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is set to conduct elections across 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State this year.
