The Nigerian Navy has recovered approximately 105,000 litres of products suspected to be stolen crude oil in separate operations in Delta State, as part of its ongoing crackdown under Operation Delta Sentinel.
Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, said operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta Area of Operation uncovered concealed storage facilities used by economic saboteurs to stockpile the illicit product. The recoveries, 60,000 litres and 45,000 litres were made at different locations along the Oteghele axis of the state.
Folorunsho noted that the finds underscore both the continued activities of crude oil theft syndicates and the Navy’s resolve to dismantle their networks, safeguard critical oil and gas infrastructure, and stem economic losses.
He added that the successful operations further demonstrate the effectiveness of Operation Delta Sentinel in disrupting criminal groups involved in crude oil theft and illegal bunkering across the Niger Delta.
