Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued Hajiya Amina Abubakar Rabe, the wife of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, after she was abducted by bandits in Katsina State.
The rescue operation was conducted under the ongoing Operation CLEAN SWEEP III. Military authorities launched intelligence-led offensives in Matazu and surrounding communities following the abduction of the retired senior officer’s wife and other family members.
According to military sources, troops on a search-and-rescue mission engaged the bandits at Tunga village in Matazu Local Government Area. The attackers opened fire on the victim before fleeing under heavy military pressure.
“The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding, we have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention,” a military source said. Troops stabilised the victim at the scene before evacuating her to a medical facility for further treatment.
Security forces have intensified follow-up operations across the area, with troops actively pursuing the fleeing bandits and their suspected sponsors. Military authorities vowed to sustain clearance operations under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III until all criminal hideouts in the region are dismantled and those responsible for the abduction are brought to justice.
