Sensitive election materials for Saturday’s Osun State governorship election arrived at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Osun branch late Thursday evening, ending a delay caused by the reprinting of ballot papers.
Political party agents and security operatives maintained a continuous watch at the bank complex as the escorted convoy reached the premises around 8:45 p.m. Officials from the CBN and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediately began inspecting the materials while unloading continued.
The distribution had been postponed to accommodate the inclusion of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on the ballot, following a High Court order.
INEC Osun Public Relations Officer Musa Olurode confirmed that the materials would be moved to the 30 local government areas and the area office the same night. He stated that security personnel, transport logistics, and INEC staff were already on standby for the exercise.
“Yes, the materials have arrived at the CBN as you can see; all of it will be distributed to the 30 Local Government Council Areas and the Area office this night,” Olurode said.
Party agents, security forces, and journalists remained at the scene as the offloading and preparations for distribution proceeded into the night.
