Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will remain in office until 2031, completing two terms as Nigeria’s president.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor made the statement on Tuesday during the flag-off of the Akwa Ibom section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a “people-loving President” with the support of Nigerians to serve a full eight-year tenure.
“Let me end by assuring that our President, our people-loving President, will complete eight years because we are going to stand by him,” Eno said.
“My leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will not allow the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to become another abandoned East-West Road. He is a father and a promise keeper.”
Governor Eno also prayed for President Tinubu’s continued good health and pledged his administration’s cooperation with the federal government.
His remarks come amid rising concerns within the PDP about the unity of the party ahead of the 2027 elections. PDP chieftain Dele Momodu recently alleged that the PDP Governors Forum may be covertly working in Tinubu’s favor.
Momodu pointed to the forum’s rejection of the newly formed opposition coalition spearheaded by former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as evidence. Following a meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, the PDP Governors Forum announced it would not be joining the coalition, signaling a potential internal rift within the party.
