A former Kano State House of Assembly aspirant in the 2023 general elections, Adnan Mukhtar Tudunwada, has accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Leader, Muhammad Kadade Suleiman, of failing to effectively represent and mobilize the party’s youth wing.
Mukhtar criticized Kadade’s leadership, alleging that he has been unresponsive to concerns raised by young party members.
“Even though I have access to him, the Youth Leader has failed to listen to almost everybody who tries to call him to order,” Mukhtar lamented.
He accused Kadade of remaining silent on critical national issues, including economic hardships and political challenges, and claimed that his loyalty to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was undermining the PDP’s youth leadership.
“Look at what is happening in the country—the SDP issues, the hardships, everything—yet he has chosen to remain silent because of Nyesom Wike, who is an enemy of the party, working tirelessly for President Tinubu to destroy the opposition,” Mukhtar alleged.
He further claimed that Kadade’s allegiance to Wike has weakened the PDP’s youth structure, leaving young party members without strong leadership.
“We heard from a reliable source that he is not loyal to the party but to an individual, Nyesom Wike, who is doing everything possible to destroy our great party,” he added.
Mukhtar urged Kadade to take his responsibilities seriously, emphasizing that the party’s youth wing is suffering due to his inaction.
“I’m calling on the young man—it’s not too late. He should start doing the right thing because the youth wing of the party is very weak, courtesy of his lackadaisical attitude toward young people.”
Beyond party politics, Mukhtar called on Nigerian youths to unite in addressing national challenges.
“Our youth must come together out of patriotism and support any cause that can salvage this country,” he concluded.
Responding to the allegations, PDP National Youth Leader Muhammad Kadade Suleiman dismissed Mukhtar’s claims, arguing that leadership comes with challenges that outsiders fail to understand.
“Those who are not in positions do not know how it is. They think that if they were the ones, they would perfectly do better,” Kadade said.
He defended his performance, pointing to his efforts during the 2023 elections.
“In 2023, I did a lot of activities, and there’s no way if I’m not doing well that the leaders would allow me to continue, because there is accountability.”
Kadade acknowledged that leadership invites criticism, regardless of one’s efforts.
“A leader is always at fault, and people will always talk. If Adnan thinks leadership is easy, he would have clinched the position as an aspirant of the Kano Assembly in the 2023 general elections,” he added.
Mukhtar, in a statement issued on Wednesday, maintained that Kadade has failed to prioritize the interests of young Nigerians within the party.
“The Youth Leader is a crucial member of the party’s National Working Committee because he represents all young members of the party. But have you ever seen him holding meetings with youth groups other than posing for pictures with VIPs?” Mukhtar queried.
He also expressed disappointment over Kadade’s alleged failure to organize a youth mobilization tour for the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, despite calls from various party youth leaders.
