The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has declared its unwavering support for the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the forum made this known in a communiqué issued on Monday after a meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The development comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s controversial decision to suspend Governor Fubara for six months, following the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State to address the ongoing political crisis. Tinubu also appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Sole Administrator of the state.
In their statement, the PDP governors reaffirmed their solidarity with Fubara, stating, “We restate our commitment to stand with him (Fubara) until the end amid the challenges posed by the declaration of a state of emergency in his state.”
The forum also raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation in several parts of the country, including Borno, Katsina, and Edo states. Describing the trend as alarming, they called for an urgent “review and reorientation of priorities and strategies,” advocating for a grassroots-focused approach to effectively curb insecurity.
