The legal team representing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expanded further with the inclusion of more prominent legal practitioners, as his terrorism trial intensifies.
Among the latest additions are Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Paul Esokoro, and renowned academic, Dr. P.K. Obi. Their involvement was confirmed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, ahead of today’s court proceedings in Abuja.
“Breaking: PAUL ESOKORO (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria) and Dr. P.K. Obi (an accomplished academic) have joined the ever-expanding legal team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. They’re both present in court today & proceedings are ongoing. The more, the merrier,” Ejimakor announced via his official X account.
He also provided an update on the expected activities in court, noting that the prosecution is set to continue presenting its case.
“FRN versus MNK: As the Court reconvenes today in less than an hour, here’s a summary of what to expect. The prosecution will continue to present its case through their witness, and there might not be enough time to conduct our cross-examination today. Another adjournment is in view,” he added.
Just days earlier, four other distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria—Prof. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Emeka Etiaba, Mela Audu Nunghe, and Joseph Akubo—also joined Kanu’s defense team, signaling increased legal firepower as the case progresses.
Kanu is currently facing terrorism-related charges before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The prosecution has so far presented two witnesses who have testified and submitted recorded broadcasts as evidence against him.
