Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have thwarted a planned attack by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on their Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Izge, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attempted infiltration, which occurred at about 12:35 a.m. on May 7, 2025, was swiftly repelled by troops from E Company, 114 Battalion (Main), under the 26 Task Force Brigade. Their swift response and superior firepower successfully foiled the attack.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who shared the update on his X handle Wednesday, a follow-up clearance operation was launched in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
During the operation, troops recovered the bodies of five neutralized terrorists. Other items recovered along the insurgents’ withdrawal route included a PKT machine gun, an ammunition belt, one motorcycle, and ten bicycles.
