In a heartwarming success amid the ongoing fight against insurgency, troops from the Joint Task Force (North-East) under Operation Hadin Kai have once again proven their mettle. As part of Operation Desert Sanity V/Siege, soldiers carried out a bold offensive that led to the rescue of a young mother and her infant son from the clutches of terrorists in the Amuda general area.
The rescued victims have been identified as Mrs. Maryam Muhammad, aged 20, and her little boy, Bello Muhammad, who is just 1 year and 4 months old. They were among the civilians snatched during a brutal terrorist attack on the Ngoshe community back on March 3, 2026.
According to military sources, the pair had been held hostage in a terrorist hideout deep within the Mandara Mountains. Thankfully, intense military fire missions on the terrorists’ camps forced their captors to flee, leaving the mother and child behind. After a quick medical check-up, the joyful duo was safely handed back to their family members with the help of Ngoshe community leaders.
Operations around Wulgo, Gumsari, and Hausari yielded more results. Working alongside Civilian Joint Task Force operatives, troops uncovered clear signs of terrorist activity, including makeshift medical setups stocked with antibiotics and transfusion kits, 7.62mm ammunition rounds, and even a uniform linked to a terrorist commander. In the process, one terrorist was neutralized, with no losses on the side of the security forces.
These latest developments point to a weakening of terrorist networks, especially around the Mandara Mountains and nearby border areas. The Joint Task Force has reaffirmed its dedication to keeping up the momentum, rescuing more abducted civilians, and bringing lasting peace to the North-East region.
