Two serving members of the House of Representatives and a former federal lawmaker have defected to the Action Peoples Party (APP) and emerged as the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections in their respective constituencies.
Rt. Hon. Boma Goodhead, who represents the Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency of Rivers State, will contest the next House of Representatives election on the APP platform. Hon. Alozie Munachim Ikechi, member for the Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency of Abia State, has also secured the party’s ticket for his constituency.
Rt. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, a former member who represented the Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State, has joined the APP and will run as its candidate for the same seat.
The defections mark a notable expansion for the APP as it builds its presence in the South-East and South-South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party officials view the arrival of the three lawmakers as a boost to its efforts to attract experienced politicians and position itself as a competitive alternative.
