The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, has dismissed three officers from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over their involvement in conspiracy, abduction, and extortion of innocent civilians.
The dismissed officers, identified as Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi, Corporal James Daniel, and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka, have also been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution alongside their civilian accomplices.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, and made available to ABN TV, the officers were found guilty of serious misconduct following an orderly room trial. Their dismissal took effect on February 7, 2025, after investigations confirmed their involvement in an incident that occurred on January 29, 2025.
On the said date, the dismissed officers, along with two civilian accomplices, allegedly conspired to hire a minibus, arm themselves with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol, and abduct civilians along the Port Harcourt Expressway. The victims were reportedly extorted, with additional payments later demanded from their families for their release.
Following their arrest by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Abayi, the Abia State Police Command conducted a disciplinary review, which confirmed their culpability. As a result, their official accoutrements were retrieved, and they were formally dismissed from the force.
CP Danladi Isa reaffirmed the command’s commitment to discipline, professionalism, and accountability, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct. He assured the public that the Abia State Police Command remains steadfast in aligning with the Inspector General of Police’s vision of a service-oriented, law-compliant, and people-friendly police force.
