Prominent figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State have expressed strong optimism that the party will soon put an end to the long-standing dominance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Mass held in Onitsha in honour of the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the party leaders urged Anambra citizens to remain patient, hopeful, and vigilant ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
Among those who spoke were the APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike; Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Committee, Engr. John Bosco Onunkwo; National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu; and Chief Felix Unigwe, a respected party stalwart.
They expressed disappointment over APGA’s leadership, accusing the party of consistently failing to deliver on its promises to the people. According to them, APGA has repeatedly used the legacy of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to manipulate public sentiment, only to fall short after elections.
Ejidike emphasized the APC’s commitment to repositioning Anambra by reconnecting the state with national development goals, citing what he described as the non-performance of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration.
Engr. Onunkwo highlighted the strength of the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket, describing it as a formidable and united front that will boost the APC’s chances of clinching victory at the polls.
Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. Awogu stated that the Ikemba Front, which he leads, is fully mobilized to support APC’s mission to transform governance in Anambra.
Addressing speculations that President Bola Tinubu endorsed Governor Soludo during his recent visit to the state, Chief Unigwe firmly refuted the claims. “Tinubu did not endorse Soludo. He only referred to him as a friend and a thinker,” he clarified.
With the campaign season gaining momentum, the APC leaders assured Ndi Anambra that change is on the horizon.
