President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the deployment of Nigerian troops to the Republic of Benin as part of a peace support mission following an attempted takeover of government in the neighbouring country. The President made the request in a letter presented to lawmakers on Tuesday by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during plenary. The authorities in Burkina Faso have announced that a Nigerian Air Force C130 transport aircraft carrying eleven soldiers was compelled to land in the country on Monday after it allegedly entered Burkinabe airspace without the required clearance. The report was released by the Agence d’information du Burkina, the national news agency, which published a formal statement from the Confederation of Sahel States. Niger State Governor Umaru Bago on Monday received one hundred of the abducted pupils of Saint Marys Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, following their release by the Federal Government. The Federal Government has moved to eliminate physical cash transactions in revenue collection, directing all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to switch fully to electronic payments.
