The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended the ₦39 billion spent on the renovation of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, dismissing critics as people who “do not have good taste.” Speaking on Friday, Wike addressed public backlash over the cost of the project and the recent decision to rename the facility after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Some Nigerians had argued that the centre should have been named after former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, under whose regime the facility was originally constructed in 1991 at a cost of ₦240 million. “The…
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on the Imo State Government and prominent Igbo leaders to intervene in the ongoing land dispute between Evangelist Ebuka Obi of Zion Ministry and communities in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State. In a statement signed by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group stressed that the relocation of Zion Ministry’s headquarters from Lagos to Imo State aligns with IPOB’s longstanding appeal for Igbos to return their investments home. However, IPOB warned that unresolved land disputes could undermine such efforts. “The global community of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under…
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has distanced himself from a viral Instagram post suggesting he is preparing to run in the 2027 presidential election. The post, shared from an account bearing Jonathan’s name, criticized Nigeria’s current leadership, stating that the country’s leaders are “pretending to sleep,” and urged Nigerians to make wise decisions at the polls. “Since our current leaders are pretending to sleep, we pray that we will get our good leadership back in 2027. Your choice will determine the betterment of our future,” the post read. Accompanying the message was a photo of Jonathan shaking hands with former U.S.…

The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Friday in Dutse, the state capital. He said the suspects were arrested during a joint security operation on Thursday in Digawa village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. According to Shiisu, the arrests followed a coordinated, intelligence-led raid based on credible reports about a syndicate allegedly engaged in fraudulent practices and other criminal activities in the region. “During the early morning operation, security operatives stormed a criminal…
1. I doubt that Learned Silk Adebayo Ojo Mutalubi, would be in a hurry to insult any Nigerian so gratuitously again. I’m sure he’d enjoy Prof Ozekhome’s response, although I am not endorsing such personality exchanges 2. Learned silk Ojo’s verbal attack on Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, was entirely unwarranted. Right or wrong, Prof. Ozekhome’s constitutional right to constructively criticize our leaders is sacrosanct. It is deeply troubling that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria like Adebayo Ojo appears not to appreciate the fundamental right of citizens to speak truth to power. One would expect a Senior Advocate to understand that…
By Sylvester Udemezue “I drank alcohol and cut her body into pieces.” These were the chilling words confessed openly in court, on 11 June 2025 in Kwara State, by Abdulrahman Bello, a self-acclaimed religious cleric, who allegedly murdered and dismembered a young student in cold blood. (See: lawblogng.com) Lord God Almighty, are You still there? Are You watching? Listening? Or have You turned away from Nigeria? Because, Lord, this is not just one isolated horror. It is a daily ritual in a land once known for hope, dignity, and human warmth. Every day, someone’s son is beheaded, shot or strangled;…
Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has once again visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a renewed effort to reconcile and resolve the ongoing political crisis in the state. Sources confirmed that Fubara met Wike at his residence in Abuja on Monday, despite speculation surrounding a viral photograph of the two politicians. “The photo making the rounds is not recent,” one source clarified. “But I can confirm that Fubara did visit the Minister this Monday.” The visit is believed to be part of Fubara’s broader move to mend ties with Wike, his predecessor and…
Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said that President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s opposition parties share common ground on maintaining a multi-party democracy. Saraki was responding to Tinubu’s recent remarks at the National Assembly, where the President dismissed allegations that his administration is pushing Nigeria toward becoming a one-party state. The concerns arose following a wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which critics claimed signaled a move toward political dominance. Some defectors have cited internal crises within their former parties as the reason for their switch to the APC. However, President Tinubu,…
Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has publicly apologized to former President Goodluck Jonathan, admitting that he was naive to have criticized his administration in the past. Bello, the son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, made the apology during an appearance on Politics Today, a current affairs programme on Channels Television, aired Thursday evening. Reflecting on his past views, Bello said he had failed to appreciate the quality of governance during Jonathan’s time in office due to his youthful inexperience and a desire for validation. “I used to be very…
Senator Seriake Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West, has raised concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s speech during the joint session of the National Assembly held on Thursday to mark the 2025 Democracy Day. Speaking to journalists shortly after the president’s address, Dickson alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio violated his constitutional rights during the session. According to him, Akpabio hastily read through the president’s correspondence to the National Assembly and deliberately ignored his attempt to raise a constitutional issue. “That’s not how democracy works — that’s how military regimes operate,” Dickson stated, expressing his frustration over being denied the opportunity to…
