Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, has alleged that the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State was a premeditated arrangement between President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Ihunwo dismissed the justification for the emergency rule, insisting that Rivers State remains peaceful.
He also refuted reports of a pipeline explosion in the state, claiming that the company involved had denied any such incident.
“Nigerians have been criticizing Mr. President for this declaration. There is no war in Rivers State; the state is very peaceful,” Ihunwo said.
“The alleged pipeline vandalism is false. The company has stated that no such event took place. Mr. President acted in error by imposing an emergency rule on our state. Our governor is a peaceful man.”
Ihunwo further asserted that the move was orchestrated by Wike, labeling it a “cooked-up arrangement.”
“The explosion they claim happened in Rivers is not true. The company has confirmed that nothing like that occurred. It’s now clear that this was a coordinated plan between Mr. President and the FCT Minister,” he alleged.
