Suspected kidnappers have killed the son of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor and abducted his wife during an attack in Mararaba, a community in Nasarawa State bordering Abuja.
The assailants reportedly stormed the home of Pastor Austin Ifeji in the early hours of last Monday, inflicting machete wounds on him before he narrowly escaped. Enraged by his escape, the attackers abducted his wife.
Tragically, the couple’s son, who attempted to defend his mother, was shot and brutally attacked with machetes in the presence of his siblings.
A neighbor, who spoke anonymously to Daily Trust, revealed that after killing the young man, the kidnappers took the pastor’s wife and demanded a ransom of 30 million naira for her release.
As of the time of filing this report, details regarding her release remained unclear.
Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel, stated that the command was not aware of the incident.
