An improvised explosive device detonated beneath a military vehicle during a routine patrol in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State early on 4 September 2026, causing limited damage but no casualties.
Security sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the blast occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. along the Ihite Ukwa–Health Centre axis. Troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade triggered the device while on patrol. The explosion damaged the front-right fender of their Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.
No soldiers or civilians were injured in the incident.
Troops have maintained security operations in the area, and efforts continue to prevent further attacks along the route.
