Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has disclosed that the brain surgery he underwent in 2015 left him unable to achieve an erection.
Agwu made the revelation during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, which was uploaded on Saturday. He said the complication followed an operation in the United States after doctors found three tumours in his brain, one of them roughly the size of a golf ball.
When the host asked whether the condition or the surgery had affected other aspects of his health, including sexual function, Agwu replied: “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”
Other participants on the programme discussed the role of nerves involved in the surgery and their connection to the brain as they sought to explain the effect he described.
Agwu also spoke about the wider impact of his health struggles on his body, career and personal life. He reflected on his place in Nigerian comedy, claiming he helped popularise the blend of music and comedy. “Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.
The conversation turned emotional as Agwu broke down in tears while discussing his career, relationships and the friends he said abandoned him during his difficult period. “God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
