The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s exit from the party, insisting it remains focused on its objectives.
El-Rufai, a founding member of the APC, announced on Monday that he had left the ruling party and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections. He attributed his defection to internal crises within the APC.
Reacting to the development, Kaduna APC Secretary, Yahaya Baba-Pate, emphasized that the party is undeterred by El-Rufai’s departure and remains committed to securing electoral victory for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027.
“We are unperturbed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection to another party. Our priority in Kaduna is to ensure victory for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in 2027,” Baba-Pate stated.
He further asserted that the APC in Kaduna continues to grow, with influential politicians joining regularly.
“We are not disturbed and will not lose sleep over El-Rufai’s decision. The party in the state is expanding more than ever before,” he added.
