In a viral video released from captivity, Mrs. Rachael Folawe Alamu, the Principal of Community High School, Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has refuted media reports claiming her kidnappers are demanding a ₦1 billion ransom, weapons, or the imposition of Sharia law in Nigeria.
Speaking 24 days after her abduction, the principal clarified that the reports are false. She stated that she and other hostages were shown news stories alleging huge financial and religious demands, which she firmly denied.
According to Mrs. Alamu, the only demand made by the kidnappers is the release of their colleagues currently in custody. No ransom or religious conditions have been mentioned.
