The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has officially endorsed Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, expressing confidence in his ability to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In addition to Obi’s candidacy, the party has also thrown its support behind Governor Alex Otti for re-election in Abia State and reaffirmed its backing for Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as its gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, made the announcement in a statement issued in Abeokuta, Ogun State, noting that Obi remains a preferred choice for many Nigerians, particularly youths, due to what he described as anti-people policies of the Tinubu administration.
“Our major focus is getting the APC out of office only through the ballot box if Nigerians so desire, and not through illegitimate means,” Arabambi stated.
He emphasized that the Labour Party is fully committed to presenting Obi as its flagbearer in 2027, while also rallying behind Governor Otti and Rhodes-Vivour in their respective electoral bids.
“We are united in our resolve to bring about a better Nigeria under the leadership of Peter Obi,” he added.
