Tragedy struck in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Tuesday after a two-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed, claiming the lives of three individuals.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the recovery of the bodies, identifying the deceased as two adult men and a teenage girl. According to emergency responders, the victims were part of a construction crew working on the ground floor at the time of the incident, which occurred around 2:00 p.m.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud, thunderous crash as the building gave way, prompting a swift response from residents and emergency personnel.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the first body was recovered shortly after the collapse, while the remaining two were pulled from the debris following an overnight search operation.
The recovered bodies have been handed over to officers from the Igbogbo Police Division as investigations continue into the cause of the collapse.
